ABOUT CHINA LAKE CAMP
2021 Health & Safety Information
Written March 23, 2021
China Lake Camp is excited to offer overnight summer camp options to children and their families in 2021. We are happy to invite you back to our campus for a time of spiritual growth, fun, and fellowship with others. The past year has been a difficult one, but with God’s help, we have made it through and are looking to the future. In order to safely reopen our camping programs, we have reviewed information from the State of Maine guidelines for overnight summer camps as well as other state guidelines, the American Camping Association Field Guide for Camps on Implementation of CDC Guidance In regards to COVID19, and spoken to other camps that operated safely in 2020. We have also had the guidance of a local nursing official who is working closely to combat the spread of COVID19 in the State of Maine. We will be following all state guidelines and making adjustments to our programs and facilities to make sure we are following the best practices recommended by our governing and health officials. **
What We Are Doing:
1. Campers and staff will have a pre-screening form to be filled out before arrival.
2. We will be staggering camper check-in times and using new check-in procedures.
3. Cabin sizes and groupings of campers will be reduced during camp.
4. Increasing access to handwashing stations and hand sanitizer around the campus and training staff to help campers remember to wash their hands frequently.
5. Displaying proper handwashing technique posters at handwashing stations and at other sinks around the campus.
6. Increasing the frequency of sanitizing activities through the campus with priority given to areas of elevated risk and high traffic areas.
7. Increasing outdoor activities - dining, chapels, and crafts will be done outside as much as possible along with other common outdoor activities.
8. Under current state guidelines, mask-wearing will be required at all times with the exception of sleeping, eating, and swimming. **
What Can You Do?
1. Cover your cough/sneezes with the bend of your elbow or a tissue.
2. Frequently wash/sanitize your hands, especially after coughing or sneezing.
3. Stay at home if you are sick or if you have sick family members.
4. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
5. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
6. Honestly fill out your camper/staff pre-screening health form during the two weeks prior to your week of camp.
We are looking forward to seeing you, praying and laughing with you, and walking the hills of China Lake Camp with you in 2021. If you have any questions about what is being done at China Lake Camp in regards to health and safety or you have any questions about the programing, please contact us. We would love to hear from you.
